It's good to be a Phoenix

Long days and nights of blood, sweat, and tears has finally paid off. Well not really, I don't sweat, I haven't poked myself enough to bleed, and I haven't cried over my creations. I take great care into my creations. I pride myself for being able to provide for others when others cannot.

I already have a handful of happy customers under my belt and I cannot wait to find more. I even learned of two prospective customers today, they may be asking for some items outside of my Etsy shop.

This weekend my to-do list includes making more wallets, hopefully I will get some done, but considering it took me two weeks to make 8 items, I'm hoping I can pull some wallets or Geek Pockets out in just 2.5 days!

I'm also planning on posting many more items, but I'm thinking to making a few things first and then posting the new items. I've tweaked my patterns here and there, and my old card pocket and wallet patterns (which were used for my first set of customers) is now old news. But never fear, the essentials are all the same, just changed the shapes a bit.

I purchased some new items yesterday for my line of jewelry that I'm very excited to announce! Keep an eye on my shop because I'm also planning on making a few and posting them!

Of course one of the best things about my new business is that I have Pumpkin warming my feet and Oreo guarding my back while I work.

Etsy Posting!

After a few hard weeks of working to get items done for family, I have now posted two items on Etsy. More to come tonight and over the weekend! Head over to my Etsy shop to check them out! storiesofaphoenix.etsy.com

From Years Ago

The bird flew away.

Let Me Fly

Across my face
The print of tears
Trickle down
Caused by the sweat-stained
Hand from which I received the blow

Drunken anger boils his blood
Glass shattered with rage
I wait in tears knowing he will find me
Cowering in a corner
With blood dripping from my nose

Locked in my prison
I cry myself to sleep
Listening to those harsh words
That flew from his mouth tonight
Knowing I am broken

I am trapped
In this hell
Of Eternal gloom
Set me free
Heal my Angel Wing

V for Vendetta, probably all the V's in the dictionary!

VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

Etsy on the way!

Stories of a Phoenix has now dived into wallet and purse making!

I have many ideas and designs! From clutches, to different styles of wallets, even iPod, cell phone, and camera bags, shoulder bags, messenger bags, and so many more.

I'm even going to start my own Etsy shop to sell my spoils. I'm pleased to announce that my mother is going to start selling some of her massive collection of her handmade crocheted items! She has doilies galore and even more!

It's a mother-daughter adventure and I couldn't be more excited. Join me in my new endeavor!

A gift from the gods

Even when you don't feel well. Whether it be a sickness, a pain, or some emotion taking over, there are little things that can raise your spirits.

For instance take a cute, fluffy black dog named Oreo. Watch her curl up on the bed, drop her head to her paws and look up with puppy dog eyes. My heart melts every single time. If I'm sick or not feeling well for any reason, she seems to know what she needs to do to get my mind away if only for a few moments.

This is why I owe much of my life to her.

I'm gonna git you!

Pumpkin looks on as Oreo has a playful showdown with a piece of food

Snow is a funny thing

Early this morning, I struggled to get ready for work because it was snowing like a banshee outside and we needed extra driving time. We let Oreo and Pumpkin outside to do their morning business.

I couldn't help myself. I stopped and watched them. Their carefree dance in the snow was breathtaking. I could see the huge grins on their faces and it broke my heart when we had to call them in.

When we finally coerced them in, our normally black dogs were completely white! Of course it was only moments later the snow had melted off them and they were wet black dogs.

Seeing their happy faces has been the highlight of my day so far. I'm going to start a snow fight with them when I get home.

In the eyes of the hubby

So yesterday as every other day, my hubby told Pumpkin that she is a disgrace to the canine community. Likewise to Mumbo, being a disgrace to the feline community. The reason being: a cat and dog totally in love with each other. They are inseparable. If one is sprawling out on the couch, the other is probably in plain view within physical contact, or the other is covered up!

Pumpkin is a serious snuggler and lap dog. Though she's a bit bigger than your average lap dog should be, that doesn't stop her at all. She will curl up right next to me on the couch, and then Mumbo will follow, curling up right up against her.

So while we were watching the Superbowl, they snoozed, nose to nose right next to me. I am warmed by the body heat of a dog and a cat, while my feet stay warm from Oreo snuggling with against them.

How lucky am I?
